Indie Music And Where The Scene Is Headed
Indie is a genre of music that tends to fly slightly under the mainstream of music. Indie music is played by innovative musicians who desire to create a musical sound unlike any other while avoiding the risk of “selling out” or, in other words, signing on with a mainstream music label. Indie music goes back to the roots of music, back when artists used their craft to create masterpieces of sounds as opposed to the over produced, talentless noise sometimes produced by the mainstream music machine. Simply put, indie music is a style of sounds created by people who value creativity over money and popularity.
In recent years, indie music has seen an increase in popularity that has thrust certain “indie” bands into worldwide recognition. Bands like Coldplay, Radiohead and Arcade Fire started their careers as obscure, lesser known artists who created music for the sake of music only to find themselves tossed onto the stages of packed arenas around the world. Indie bands like these three have brought more recognition to a style of music that up until now has thrived on its small fan base and independent releases and good or bad, more people are now aware of this genre of music. For up and coming indie musicians like Da Bears and a variety of others, the influence of big named indie bands and musicians on music lovers around the world is certain to bring future attention to these lesser known indie band’s style of music.
